5 Ways to Turn Facebook Likes Into Email Subscribers

Turn facebook likes into email subscribers

Facebook has reported a huge 2.38 billion monthly active users as at Q1 of 2019 which shows that its community is still growing . However, organic traffic in Facebook as we know, has dropped significantly due to a shift of focus to paid traffic by the social giant.

While there are still many ways to increase traffic to your Facebook page so you could promote your products, I prefer to place my focus on converting my existing Facebook followers to become my email subscribers.

In order to achieve this, you must first have a significant number of Facebook followers. A good number would be 10,000 followers to start with.

Of course, to quickly reach this number, there's no other better way than to run Facebook ads campaign.

Here's the mini video course  from a very well-respected Facebook influencer, where I learned how to buy Facebook ads

Reasons to Convert Facebook Followers To Become Email Subscribers?

There are many reasons why you should get hold of the email addresses of your Facebook followers. Here're some of the reasons I believe you'll agree with me too.

Ownership: You don't own Facebook and you never will. Therefore the followers that you've spend time and money acquiring do not belong to you at all. There's no way you can reach them unless you inside this platform.

But if you managed to get hold of their email addresses, you are then in full control full control of your list. As long as you do not spam your subscribers, no one can take away your list.

Higher Impression: We all know that organic traffic in Facebook is dead. Statistic shows that only 1% to 2% of your followers will see each of your post. This means, if you have 10,000 followers, only 100 people will be able to engage with you

However, if you send your subscribers email, there's so much higher possibility that they will see, and probably open your email. This means a higher percentage of your email subscribers will see your offerings.

Spending Capacity: According to 2018 statistics compilation by Campaign Monitor, email is 66 times more effective at acquiring new customers than Facebook. Its return on investment is measured at 4400%!

I hope the above 3 reasons are enough for you to recognize the importance of getting your Facebook followers to opt in to you list. Here's how you can do it.

How To Turn Facebook Likes Into Email Subscribers

1. Add “email sign up” tab to your Facebook page. You can do this by adding an “email sign up” tab on the page which will lead to an opt-in form. Basically you embed opt-in form onto Facebook page.

Good email autoresponder tool such as AWeber and GetResponse offer this function in Facebook.

Alternatively, you may want to consider using more advanced tool like LeadPages.net so that you can have a variety of choices on high quality webform design and awesome opt-in experience for subscribers (LeadBoxes) to choose from. This will enhance user experience.

2. Advertise on Facebook. Sometimes you just need to spent some money to advertise. Facebook has basically transformed into a giant advertisement platform as organic traffic is almost negligible.

When you advertise on Facebook, you can target your audience based on many variables such as location, connection, interest, age, gender, language or more demographic segmentation such as relationship, education, ethnic, etc.

I would say Facebook offers very comprehensive targeting tool to ease advertiser's work. However, you must make sure that your offer is attractive to your target audience.

3. Integrate lead capture DIRECTLY inside FB post. Many are not aware that you can actually integrate real, functional opt-in forms and landing pages directly inside the Newsfeed and Fanpage posts to collect ultra-targeted leads regardless of whether the post is image or video based.

You can actually do this using a tool namely FB Infiltrator (this product is no longer available as at 2019). By applying this method it increases visibility of your lead capture and improve opt-in rate tremendously as it ease the entire opt-in process.  This enhances user experience.

4. Link to your lead capture landing page and not homepage. Many marketers made the mistake to automatically link everything to their homepage. What is the rationale for doing this?

You really need to ask this question before deciding which page you want to direct your audience to. If your objective is to increase email list, then isn't the best way is to direct your link to lead capture landing page?

Please bear in mind that your lead capture landing page must be specifically designed to engage opt-in. It's important to give people to leave the landing page without much hassle.

Ultimately, your intention is just to encourage people to join your list but not force them to sign up or leave. You can include your landing page link at your post or About section (hint: try to do “call to action”) .

5. Host a contest or giveaway. There are many success stories from Facebook marketers who gotten thousands of new subscribers by simply running contest and giveaways.

However, apart from designing an attractive opt-in page, this strategy must be supported with an offer that your “ideal” subscribers would want… not simply any offer will do. To make this work, I suggest that you limit your contest to a maximum of 7 days to create scarcity.

If you are keen to setup a Facebook contest, try using WP Profit Builder to create high converting opt-in pages and follow up funnels testing to find out the highest converting page.

I know what you must be thinking now. You find it too troublesome to create your own landing pages?

If this is the case, I suggest you check out CB Passive Income, a done-for-you system that comes with a variety of ready-made lead capture pages, free giveaways and fully automated yet proven email autoresponder.

With this done-for-you system, your job is just to drive traffic to the pages, get your subscriber list and start making money when they buy something as the system sends out automated emails.

I've tried this system personally using solo ads and it works very well to generate subscriber list.

    1. Hi Akoli,

Thanks for the compliment. I’ve started blogging since 2007 but not very actively. The theme I am using is called MH Newsdesk. AWeber is in fact a very powerful email marketing tool and they do offer a lot of useful webinars if you subscribe to their blog. You may considered to check it out.

  3. Hey I just had a look at your site, I found it very interesting. I have been wanting to start email marketing but I don’t yet have many subscribers and I wanted to wait untill I had a subscriber base before upgrading to a paid subscription service. At the moment I have a free email list service with up to 500 subscribers but I only have a handful at the moment. Any suggestions on how to get more?

    1. Hi David, you mentioned that you are going to upgrade into a paid subscription. Are you referring to email marketing tool like AWeber and GetResponse? If you can let me understand on how you currently recruiting subscribers, then maybe I can give more accurate advice.

  5. Hi Florence,
To be honest, I don’t use social media as much as I should, so I found your post very useful. There are several tips you give here that I had never thought about and I don’t remember seeing elsewhere. I particularly like the idea of adding an email sign up tab on your Facebook page.
    Thanks for the great info.

  6. Great article Florence! I started to realize the process of building a business based only on SEO was a bit too slow for my taste so I started to look around and I found Facebook ads just like you did.

  7. Hello, I’m new to online marketing (3 months old) and before even getting Email subscribers, I don’t even get that much of likes on my posts. I don’t even have my own facebook page yet. And I see others with bunch of likes and their own facebook pages. So I’m just curious, how are they getting so many likes on their posts? I rarely use FB except to just post my articles from my website.

    1. You can opt to create a Facebook Ads to promote your page. This will gain you more likes. Alternatively, you can try organic method by posting more regularly on Facebook. However this may take more time and effort.

  8. Very nice webpage and overall, a very nice website. I love the topic and theme choice picked. And your color-scheme goes along amazingly with what you are talking about.
I especially love your topic. I did not even think of using social media to gain a longer e-mail list however, amazing I am getting started on that right now.
    Thank YOU!

  9. Wow PlorenceKi,

Great information! This is going to be so helpful!

And your page is so cool!

The use of different colors and textures in text make your post very well organized and easy to go through. Let’s say I need to find an information I know is in your post, it will be very easy for me to go directly pinpoint it.

The pictures are nice, especially the gif of the free ebook.

You have a good conclusion offering other solutions that you haven’t talked about.

I also like the side of the page where we can see all your other posts. And the fact that the ads are subtle and at the bottom only is well done.
