What is Juice Plus?

Founded by Jay Martin in 1970, Juice Plus is a virtual franchise or MLM company that sells nutritional supplements made from natural fruits, vegetables, and grains. Like most businesses, it claims to help you earn multi-tier commissions by selling its products.

Juice Plus is another product line under National Safety Associates (NSA) but its products are manufactured by another company called National Alternatives International (NAI).

If it is your first time to hear about MLM, it is a legitimate business opportunity that offers members a multi-tier structure to earn money.

However, it is often mistaken as a pyramid scheme as it involves the traditional recruiting process. The only difference is that while MLM focuses on selling products and pyramiding scheme focuses more on recruiting people to receive monetary incentives.

In most cases, it’s hard to bust a pyramiding scheme because it uses products to conceal its true identity. If you want to learn more about what is pyramiding scheme, please fee to check out the FDC explanation about pyramid scheme.

Is MLM the same as virtual franchise or it's an entirely different business model?

Before I explain about the virtual franchise, let me take you inside Juice Plus to find out what this company is promoting and how you can grab this business opportunity to make money.

Most Popular Juice Plus Products

Juice Plus offers a wide variety of nutritional and dietary supplements containing concentrated fruit and vegetable juice extracts. Their aim is to bridge the gap between people’s eating habits by being the “next best thing to eating fruits and vegetables.”

The most popular Juice Plus products are the Juice Plus Fruits, Vegetable, and Berry Blend capsules which are sold as a pack for $71.25/month. This pack includes:

  • Juice Plus – Fruit Blend Capsule
  • Juice Plus – Vegetable Blend Capsule
  • Juice Plus – Berry Blend Capsule

Each bottle contains 240 capsules which you need to take twice a day – one in the morning and one during the night – to supplement important vitamins and minerals needed by your body. Children under 13 years old are advised to take just one capsule a day.

How to Make Money with Juice Plus?

To start earning money with Juice Plus, first, you need to become a virtual franchisee, or in short a member, by paying a $50 one-time sign fee.

This fee will entitle you to receive basic training, marketing materials, your custom website, back-office, and some other resources to help you get started with the business.

Once you become a member, you can start selling Juice Plus products and recruiting people and advance in rank to unlock more bonuses.

However, in order to stay as an active member, you need to maintain at least a $70 monthly order of Juice Plus products.

Juice Plus follows the traditional recruiting system like most MLM businesses. As you can see, there are a total of 7 rankings in Juice Plus with Distributor as the lowest and National Marketing Director as the highest.

In the following sections, I will explain to you the three main income streams with Juice Plus.

Retail Sales

When you’re a member or more commonly known as istributor, you are not yet entitled to earn a commission but you can earn money selling Juice Plus products.

The retail profit is simply the difference between what you pay for the products and what you charge your customers. On average, you can earn $39 for the Juice Plus Fruits, Vegetable, and Berry Blend trio capsules.

This is not the best way to earn money with Juice Plus unless you are able to quickly reach a wider market by applying affiliate marketing strategies to promote products online.

If you’re just taking the conventional selling method by asking your friends to go online and buy, it might not help you make enough money to quit your job unless you venture into recruiting downlines and earn its multi-tier commission.

Multi-Tier Commission

You can only start earning a commission when reach the 2nd level and become a Direct Distributor.

Multi-tier commission ranges from 6% up to 22% based on the purchase volume credit (PVC) assigned to each product. For example, a 4 month supply of the trio capsules is equivalent to 169.50 PVC.

As a Direct Distributor, you can earn 6% commission on the 169.50 PVC or more if you are able to sell more products leading to more personal purchases on Juice Plus.

To become a Direct Distributor, you need to earn a 500PVC on the first 30 days with your own Juice Plus orders and 2 other Juice Plus orders from your downline.

You will earn 14% commission on your PVC when you become a Virtual Franchisee or when you reach Level 3. To qualify, you need to earn 2000PVC within 60 days and must be able to build one team of distributors who will help you make Juice Plus purchase.

You will earn a 22% commission on your PVC when you become a Sales Coordinator and any ranking above this.

In order to become a Sales Coordinator, you need to earn 8000PVC and have at least one direct distributor and 2 virtual franchisees in your downline.

MLM Bonuses & Benefits

In addition to the retail sales and multi-tier commission, just like business model in some MLM companies like Jeunesse, LifeVantage, Optavia and Young Living, you can earn multiple bonuses as you advance in rank such as the following:

  • Healthy Living Plan Bonus: This is a one-time bonus worth $100 when you reach 500PVC in 30 days.
  • Team Building Bonus: You will earn $300 when you reach the Virtual Franchisee level and another $300 is given to your sponsor, plus a 1 free ticket to join the Juice Plus Live Conference.
  • Other bonuses such as Performance Bonus, Perform Out Bonus and Business Incentive Bonus from as low as 4% up to 22% to be capped at a maximum of $3,000 per month.
  • Other perks & incentives include free tickets to conferences, holidays, insurance benefits, etc.

To be able to advance in rank, Juice Plus would always promote the “Power of Three”, which means that your downline must be able to buy at least the trio capsule so you can reach the minimum PVC and start climbing higher.

Who is Juice Plus For?

Juice Plus is a business opportunity best for highly persistent and self-motivated individuals who are willing to ace the sales role selling products and recruiting people for more commission.

It’s also suitable for affiliate marketers who have successfully promoted other health-related products online.

Traditional business focusing on face-to-face selling might be appealing for individuals who dream of earning a passive income but hardly you can find people gotten rich with this method.

Despite you’ll be given your own website to promote Juice Plus products, the problem is most distributors don’t have the skills to do online marketing.

Therefore, they will likely end up using the conventional method to introduce the products before getting the client to register and buy online.

That’s why it’s important for members to be equipped with the skills to drive online traffic to the website so they have an alternative method to grow their business.

If you’re not ready to commit to exerting a massive effort to learn additional skills, then it’s better to refrain from joining Juice Plus.

CONFUSED OF MLM?
Here's A Simpler Way To Earn A Full-Time Income Working From Home

The Truth About Juice Plus

Despite Juice Plus is a highly potential business that can help you earn multi-tier income, there is still some truth about this company that you must be aware of before considering to join.

Truth #1: Product Effectiveness Varies According to Individual

While clinical research says that Juice Plus products are very effective there is no 100% guarantee that they work for everyone.

There are some people who have experienced huge impact on their body while some feel otherwise. The following image shows some negative and positive reviews of Juice Plus users.

Since the effectiveness is largely subjective, you might face more challenges when promoting such products.

Truth #2:  Lots of Complaints Against their 4-Month Minimum Autoship Program

Juice Plus requires members to buy on a monthly subscription plan and the minimum plan starts with 4 months subscription.

While it is a convenient way to automate recurrent deliveries, there have been a lot of complaints regarding unwanted credit card charges and cancellation issues reported in BBB which makes the whole process discouraging.

Although the issues have been resolved by Juice Plus, still, battling credit card concerns with another company can be very inconvenient.

Furthermore, it’s compulsory for distributors to commit product purchases on a monthly basis in order to qualify for commissions and bonuses. This can encourage inventory loading which is a prohibited activity in any MLM.

Truth #3: It Heavily Relies on the Recruitment System

Similar to a conventional MLM business, Juice Plus is dependent on recruitment.

The tier-based commission would eventually convince you to be constantly recruiting people to expand your network and build teams in order to advance in rank and earn higher commissions.

Recruiting and nurturing people from all walks requires a massive effort, courage, and persistence which you will eventually dislike if you are looking for a simpler way to earn money.

Unfortunately, most people failed at this business because they ran out of prospects to recruit causing them to get stuck.

Truth #4: No Income Disclosure

Again this company that seems to adopt MLM business model does not have an income disclosure just like Norwex, which makes it hard to tell whether its members are actually making money.

As I have said previously, MLM companies are required to publicly make their income disclosure available for transparency.

Since Juice Plus doesn’t have an income disclosure, it has remised on its duty to allow potential distributors to discover the limitation of this business and make a well-informed decision.

Things I like About Juice Plus

I like that Juice Plus is promoting a healthy lifestyle, which is a very important habit that the new generation needs to develop.  I am also impressed with numerous clinical researches that support the claim for the effectiveness of their products.

However, while they may be reliable, critics have argued that there is no scientific proof that Juice Plus offers significant health benefits.

I also believe that there is no better replacement for the natural fruits and vegetables we eat every day.

Moreover, multi-tier commission business model is complex with commission structures that can force you to continuously recruit new members.

The opportunity to earn a big income largely depends on the time and effort you invest in the system.

If you are not a born leader nor well-trained to become a persistent salesperson that can diligently sell products and recruit people, this business opportunity may not be the right one for you.

Is Juice Plus A Virtual Franchise or MLM Company?

The Virtual franchise is just another term for network marketing or direct marketing. It literally refers to an MLM company. Despite similar to a physical franchise model, it’s a totally different concept.

In a virtual franchise business, you’ll get support like a traditional franchise, but there’s no need to pay employees as your sales team will be paid according to the results they achieved.

Neither will you require a physical location nor asset to run the business. Your sales asset aka website will be done for you with products ship directly to the buyer.

Juice Plus is a virtual franchise and also an MLM company. There’s no conventional franchise involved here, just a network marketing model.

Despite anyone can earn money as an MLM distributor, I don’t think it is the best option if you are looking for a simpler way to earn a decent living.

This MLM business requires you to sell products and recruit people, which can be very tedious and time-consuming.

If you want to earn money without going through the hassles of hard selling and recruiting members, I recommend that you promote products from multiple MLM companies using affiliate marketing method.

This way you can have more product choices, earn multiple sources of MLM commission and won’t be tied up with a single MLM company.

It reduces the risk associated with MLM companies that face strict scrutinize by FTC.

How I Start A Small Business Online

I used to be involved in MLM marketing for a short period of time but the need to spend more effort selling products face-to-face and nurturing downline made me quit.

Being misjudged and rejected by people including close friends and relatives after sincerely exerting effort was very demotivating.

That’s the reason why I ventured into affiliate marketing where I was able to earn a passive income with a simpler business model.

I’m not saying that MLM is not a good system. You may earn an extra income with MLM but the effort you need to invest may ostensibly be more massive than the expected return.

5 Comments on "Juice Plus Review: Virtual Franchise or MLM Company?"

  1. I always tend to be so careful when it comes to multi-level marketing companies. I find that much of the time, it is incredibly hard to move up to those higher positions and all the while you pour more and more money into it without ever seeing much of a desired return. It’s great at the top, but really difficult at the bottom. The fact that they have gotten a good amount of negative reviews concerning not only the product, but business practices as well, is enough for me to skip it.

  2. Juice Plus, in my opinion, is amazing stuff. I used to sell it and a friend’s mother who was a diabetic patient on insulin came off her insulin shots after being on Juice Plus for 3 months. This happens to a friend of mine too. If someone is allergic to any vegetable. the capsules are absorbed through the lining of the stomach so it does not cause a reaction. I am allergic to apples. but I can take Juice Plus. I think it is a great product which made it easy for me to sell. Thanks for the great review to help others!

  3. Hi Flo, I guess like any other business, to be successful with it, you must build up the foundation block by block. Many small businesses are sprouting up all over online. Years ago, I was seeking out good MLM companies (at least. I thought they were good.) This was back in the mid 80’s. There were even scams back then (I know first hand…i was a victim a couple times.) Do you think they’re are more scams now then there were 15 years ago? Today, there are so many MLM and other small businesses in operation, you just don’t know who to trust. But I feel there are more good than bad.

    • Scams are everywhere. But I believe with proper education, many people can already identify scams. If you plan to venture into MLM business, better choose one that has been in the market for a long time. In fact, most MLM companies operate quite similar. It’s just how persistent you are wanting to achieve success. As long as you are consistent with your action, success will just be around the corner. But for me, I still prefer affiliate marketing compared to MLM. MLM just doesn’t work for me.
